Whether it’s family or sporting holidays you’re looking for, there’s excellent sailing and water sports, golfing, tennis, and many other activities. With two superb pools in the development and a short drive to many unspoilt and un-crowded beaches, it’s perfect if you just want to take it easy.
The adjacent Duquesa Golf and Country Club boasts an 18-hole course designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., a technical masterpiece with wonderful sea and mountain views. The club also has fine sporting facilities including tennis, squash and fully equipped gym with qualified resident trainer. Many golfing challenges are close by: Alcaidesa, a Links course overlooking the Rock of Gibraltar; Valderrama, host of the Ryder Cup and World Championship, ten minutes from La Duquesa; Sotogrande, a parkland course; La Cañada, a wonderful golf challenge with fairways as thick and lush as carpet. San Roque, host to the qualifying schools, is also only a few minutes away. More still, some 40-odd courses are within an hour's drive.
With easy and cheap car rental and petrol, explore the Sierra Nevada mountains, the beautiful natural surroundings, the ‘White Villages’ and, within easy driving distance, the famous cities of Marbella (the old town), Cadiz, Cordoba, Granada, Ronda, Seville, Gibraltar and Jerez or cross the Straits of Gibraltar and visit Tangier. Puerto de la Duquesa lies on the edge of some of the most splendid mountain scenery and National Parks in Andalucia. Marine activities available locally include swimming, sailing, windsurfing sea fishing, whale and dolphin watching and relaxing on the beach. All amenities are available locally including restaurants, banks, supermarkets, pharmacies and clinic, most of which are bi-lingual.
